Music & Bars April 2021

Music & Bars by Nanette Wiser

Looking forward to Party Under the Lights, on 8th Avenue in Pass-A-Grille on May 8th with Steel Drums 4-6pm and The Legendary Impacs 6-10pm.

BOK TOWER GARDENS: The outdoor concerts at this beautiful venue in Lake Wales on two Fridays a month feature local favorites Daniela Soledad & Nate Najar as well as James Suggs playing Miles Davis in March. On April 7, Gary Mule Deer performs country and comedy. April 23rd is Reverend Barry and The Funk delivers grooves that make yo’ body move.

The CenterState Bank Concert Under the Stars Series is a co-production of the Lake Wales Arts Council and Bok Tower Gardens and supported by Gessler Clinic and Forni Dental. Advanced tickets are $40 for non-members and $48 day of the concert and include general admission to the gardens. Capacity is limited to 600 tickets and the entrance gate closes at 8pm; no late arrivals.

Concerts will be performed on the Oval Lawn and seating will be available on a first-come basis. Ticket holders can begin setting up at 3pm. Blankets and low lawn chairs are permitted. Face masks must be worn while not seated in the listening area. All parties must remain at least 6 feet apart from one another. Restrooms will be available at the Visitor Center. A mosquito repellent station will be provided; however, you may want to bring your own supplies. Flashlights are also recommended. Outside food & beverage and dogs are not permitted.

Food and beverage can be purchased onsite from a limited menu; order in advance before noon day of show and are ready for pick-up at 5pm at the Blue Palmetto Cafe terrace. The Blue Palmetto Cafe will be open through intermission. To speed service, paninis, soups, and Buffalo Chicken wraps will not be available after 4pm. A concession tent will be located at the Oval Lawn with alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages and snacks.

THE HOUSE CATS: The House Cats bring authentic bebop and swing to local hotspots such as Bavaro’s downtown. With only a guitarist & vocalist, The Jazzy House Cats bring a big sound, with chord melodies, walking baselines, and inspired improvisation. Travis & Stephanie’s genuine chemistry shines in their performances of classic jazz standards and great songwriters of the modern day.

UPCOMING SHOWS: Live music some days and nights: Jimmy B’s, Bongo’s, Caddy’s, Chill’s, Toasted Monkey, Middlegrounds in Treasure Island and St. Pete Beach; Crabby Bills in Indian Rocks Beach; The Deck Bar & Grill in St. Pete; Island Grill in Tierra Verde; Tutto Bene and North End Taphouse in Gulfport.
