The historic Cordova Inn in downtown St. Pete just tripled in size. The boutique property opened 65 new rooms this month, growing from 30 to 95 and adding one of the more distinctive new buildings to the city’s urban core in recent years.
The five-story, 56,000-square-foot expansion adds rooms ranging from 310 to 630 square feet, along with three 750-square-foot penthouse units ideal for families. The new rooms mark the first stage of a larger buildout; owner New Hotel Collection plans to open a restaurant and rooftop bar in the new building later this year.

The original, historic 12,000-square-foot building, constructed in 1921, houses 30 rooms. Those rooms and the hotel’s popular bar, The Scott, remained open throughout construction.
“We are thrilled to give downtown St. Petersburg visitors another great option for a high-quality hotel stay, as we can now cater to people looking for newer, more spacious space,” said Tommy Del Zoppo, co-founder and co-CEO of New Hotel Collection. “The new Cordova gives our guests a home base to explore all the great things our city has to offer.”

New Hotel Collection worked with Reno Boyd Building Company and Place Architecture on the project, which broke ground in 2023. The hotel bar, The Scott, serves locally made Hogg Batch coffee during the day and craft cocktails at night – a neighborhood anchor that kept the inn’s regulars coming back even as construction crews worked next door.
The 95-room inn, at 253 Second Ave. N, is designed to appeal to both leisure visitors and business travelers seeking a downtown St. Petersburg location walkable to shops, restaurants, offices and museums.
