Think about it The Last Library IV: Written in Water, on display at the St. Pete Museum of Fine Art, is a fake library comprising dangerously tilted shelves filled with banned books, controversial publications, made-up files, state documents, secret plans, and lost records. Artful funding Creative Pinellas is spearheading a new arts tourism program thanks to $500,000 in funding from Visit St. Pete-Clearwater, St. Pete Arts Alliance, and Clearwater Arts Alliance. General grant The Pollock-Krasner Foundation welcomes grant applications from painters, sculptors, and artists working on paper, including printmakers. Grants are intended for one year and range up to $50,000. The grants can be used in any way that allows an artist to pursue their practice, from creating new work, to renting studio space, to attending a residency. https://www.pkf.org/apply/how-to-apply 

All’s fair in love and art The New York Metropolitan Museum of Art says its upcoming exhibition, Krasner & Pollock: Past Continuous, is a “story of equals.” But in the art market, Pollock remains one of the great trophies of 20th-century art, while works by Krasner, his wife, widow, interlocutor, and one of the century’s most formidable painters, remain a relative bargain compared to his. Pollock’s auction record sits at $61.2 million, while Krasner’s is $11.7 million. Keep St. Pete Beach weird The Museum of the Unknown is coming to town. The crew behind it, SPB resident Dave Metcalfe of UFO Web Cam, and Mexican archaeologist Arturo Hernández, are calling it the world’s first alien relic museum. No, not it’s ET’s ancestors but human relics that either represent or are tied to aliens that Hernández and his team unearthed in Tula, just outside Mexico City. More info on Instagram @ufowebcam

True crime podcast? According to retired Arizona ear surgeon Irv Arenberg, Vincent van Gogh didn’t kill himself. Arenberg first diagnosed van Gogh with Ménière’s disease, an inner-ear disorder that could explain the ear-cutting incident. After retiring, Arenberg went full Sherlock Holmes and concluded van Gogh was murdered and is now determined to expose what he calls “the art world’s biggest cold-case homicide and cover-up.” https://bit.ly/among-van-gogh 

Hungry? American Stage’s production of The Hot Wing King will get your taste buds tingling. It’s time for the annual “Hot Wang Festival” in Memphis, and Cordell Crutchfield is spicing up the competition with wings worthy of a crown! With his crew, The New Wing Order, Cordell is firing up his frying pan for the win. When Cordell’s partner Dwayne takes in his troubled nephew, things start to simmer over. Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em Cigars! Photography, Industry, and Identity, on display at the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts (FMoPA), honors Ybor City’s enduring legacy as the cigar capital of the world. The exhibition reveals how photography has long served as a tool to preserve and reimagine the Ybor City story, as well as American history – one of migration, resistance, artistry, and community. Let’s give them something to laugh about Sunshine Comedy Café, a 35- to 45-seat venue, is coming to the ground floor of the Princess Martha building in downtown St. Pete.
