YOGA: JEANNE SALVO

By Peter Roos

Beloved Yoga Leader Returns to Pass-a-Grille Community Church

No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here. Namaste. – Jeanne Salvo

Paradise News is happy to announce that Jeanne Salvo will resume yoga classes at the Pass-a-Grille Beach Community Church on Nov. 11 from 9-10:15am and continue weekly, every Wednesday and Friday morning at that time. Paradise News founder, Renee Roos, is a long-time lover of Jeanne’s classes and plans to be at many.

The entire community is thrilled about the venue being open. The church, located at 107 16th Ave. in Pass-a-Grille, did quite an amazing job of rebounding from the flood. Even the thrift shop is like new, www.pagchurch.org/thrift-shop (open Tues., Thurs., and Sat. 9am-noon), while so many other institutions have not yet recovered.

Some time ago at 45 years of age, Jeanne had been searching for a meaningful daily practice that would help her continue her good health as she got older. Yoga gave her “such an incredible sense of well-being,” Jeanne decided to further study the practice and its history. She enrolled in a 30-day teacher’s training at Kripalu, a center for health and healing in Lenox, Massachusetts. Jeanne was immersed into a yoga lifestyle at Kripalu.

“The Kripalu yoga training was a life-changing experience. Yoga enabled me to practice on the mat as well as in my daily life. It enabled me to return to my authentic self.” Initially, Jeanne was not planning to become a teacher, but what she had learned in her training was so valuable that she wanted to teach and share this wonderful practice to help others in her community improve their health and well-being. She continued her training, becoming a 500-hour registered yoga teacher. Jeanne has been teaching for several years and being a mature woman with her own challenges guides her to a more nurturing and self-care style of teaching.

All genders, levels and abilities are welcome, as are drop-ins. Try to be 5-10 minutes early to find your spot and be ready. Bring your own mat and any other props you have (blankets, blocks, straps, bolsters, etc).

Classes are $10 each, cash or check. Plenty of free parking. For further information, email Jeannesalvo@gmail.com or please text or leave a short message on her cell with your name and number 727-224-7631.
