The St. Pete Beach City Commission has awarded Sand Dunes Beach Services, LLC, a five-year contract with a five-year renewal option to provide concession services—cabanas, umbrellas and lounge chairs, at the Pass-a-Grille Beach and Upham Beach sites. The contract calls for services to begin September 1.
The new contract caps a great year for Sand Dunes Beach Services, according to Ted McNamara, Chief Executive Officer. The company earlier had won a five-year contract renewal for the Pinellas County St. Beach Access Park, and new contracts for the Miramar Resort, Mariner Beach Club Resort, and the Plaza Beach Resort, all in St. Pete Beach.
Accepting the new St. Pete Beach contract, McNamara said, “We’re extremely pleased to provide our professional services to local and tourist customers at both Pass-a-Grille Beach and Upham Beach. We pledge similar, high-quality performance that we are providing to our many local resort clients, to the Pinellas County St. Beach Access Park and the County-owned Madeira Beach Access Park concession on a subcontract from Sand Key Beach Services, LLC. Gregory Taylor, our President and Chief Operating Officer, whose family has operated the Treasure Island Municipal Beach concession since 1955, shares my enthusiasm for the new St. Pete Beach agreement.”
St. Pete Beach Mayor Al Johnson said, “The City decided to contract for beach cabana services directly rather than through the concession contract at the Upham and Pass-a-Grille snack bars. After receiving three high quality proposals, we were pleased to award the contract to Sand Dunes Beach Services. With them we have a locally-owned company, staffed with many City residents and with an extensive track record of successful operation on SPB and the surrounding areas! It’s a great situation when we can use such a high-quality local company and make it a financial benefit to the City.”
Sand Dunes Beach Services will offer cabanas, umbrellas and lounge chairs at Pass-a-Grille Beach and Upham Beach seven days a week, weather permitting, from 9 am to 6 pm, with discounted prices after 3 pm. Any active serviceman or veteran is extended free rental with a Service ID.
