Ikebana International Chapter 65 of St. Petersburg is excited to bring the art of Japanese floral design exhibition to The Treasure Island Community Center. This year’s exhibition takes place on Sat, March 28th, 10am to 5pm, and Sun, March 29th 10am until 4pm. Over 80 arrangements made by their members will be on display to create an incredible visual experience. This exhibit is free to the public but a $2 donation is appreciated. The Morean Arts Center invitesvisual artists to submit entries for the 2015 All-Florida Juried Exhibition, coming up May 9 through June 28. The competition is open to artists age 18 or older who are full-time residents of Florida. All work must be original, completed within the last year and not previously exhibited at the Morean. The Chihuly Collection located at 400 Beach Drive in St. Petersburg, is proud to present Italian Traditions, curated by Duncan McClellan and Mary Childs. This show features a wide variety of works by contemporary glass masters influenced by traditional glassblowing techniques. Italian Traditions will be on view through April 19th and includes the following artists: Nancy Callan, Jason Christian, Kerrick Johnson, Duncan McClellan, David Patchen, Stephen Rolfe Powell, and many more! Airing February 8th at 2:30 p.m., the St. Petersburg, local celebrity chef, Jason Cline, of the Birch & Vine, will be featured on the Cooking Channel: Emeril’s Florida in an episode entitled “Out on the Town”. St. Petersburg is becoming quite the culinary hotspot with the help of talents from chefs such as Jason Cline. Happy Hour with the Historian, the St. Petersburg Museum of History’s successful lecture series, will be held on Thurs, March 12, featuring Dennis Schrader: From Marilyn to Madden – Baseball and the Sunshine City. South Pasadena Community Band will be performing several compositions by Rob Romeyn, a local resident, at a free concert  held on Wed, March 11 at 7:30pm at the Treasure Island Community Center, located at 106th Ave. in Treasure Island. Call for Artists: Files & Film Juried Show. Files & Film: A Juried Photographic Art Show will open May 9 at Creative Soul Studio,2425 Central Avenue. Photographers of all genres are welcome. Art in Bloom 2015 – sponsored by The Margaret Acheson Stuart Society and the MFA, is a grand spring tradition and presents some of the most imaginative floral designs in the area. Nearly 60 floral designers will respond to artworks throughout the Museum. The exhibition opens to the public Friday, March 13, 10am and continues through Monday, March 16. Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival- 10-day Festival Celebrates Clearwater’s Sugar Sand Beaches – April 17-26, Held on Clearwater Beach, south of Pier 60, it is a featured event of Fun ‘n Sun Clearwater. Team Sandtastic artists are returning for the 3rd year to transform 1,000 tons of sand into works of art. There were 30,000 visitors last year. A variety of free activities include sand sculpting clinics, speed sand demonstrations, a children’s play area and extended hours at Sunsets at Pier 60. On the second day of the festival, the Master Sand Sculpting Competition will begin inside the exhibit tent. Sculptors spend three days creating a themed masterpiece, with visitors watching the sculptors at work. The completed works will be on display during the remainder of the event. Admission: $10 / adults, $5 / students 6 to 17 years old, & $7 / seniors (55 and up), military, police, firefighters and teachers (proper identification required). Children 5 and under are free with adult purchase. An adult or senior ticket includes a complimentary souvenir photo.
