The City of St. Pete Beach voters elected Scott Tate as the new Mayor. His term will run for three years beginning Tuesday, March 24th, 2026.
Mr. Tate said his focus as Mayor will be enhancing accountability at City Hall and ensuring that city government works efficiently for residents and businesses. He emphasized the need to streamline the permitting process, prioritize long-term infrastructure improvements, oppose overdevelopment, and pursue county, state and federal partnerships to help strengthen the city’s resiliency and support continued recovery from the devastating storms of 2024.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the trust the people of St. Pete Beach have placed in me,” Tate said. “Our community has been through a lot, and residents made it clear they want our local government focused on what matters most – fixing the permitting process, strengthening our infrastructure, and helping families and businesses fully recover from the devastating storms of 2024. I will work to honor the trust our community has placed in me to serve as Mayor of St. Pete Beach.”
A graduate of the University of South Florida with degrees in Engineering and Business Administration, Mr. Tate brings decades of project management experience to City Hall. He has served on both the St. Pete Beach Police Pension Board and the Belle Vista Civic Association Board.
Scott lives in St. Pete Beach with his wife, Lynette, and is the proud father of three adult children. He can be reached via email at state@stpetebeach.org or via phone at 727.328.4585.
