From native tribes to tourists\, fish to kitsch\, military to municipality\, attendees will discover that there’s a lot more to discover in SPB than our award winning sugar sand beaches. Ms. Britt will also tell the story of how President Clinton influenced the city’s name. \nAfter the presentation\, there will be a special unveiling by the Friends of the St. Pete Beach Public Library honoring a former library administrator. Refreshments will be provided. \nSt. Pete Beach Library’s Director Betcinda Kettells said\, “We hope people will join us for this special afternoon program. While we all enjoy the beauty of our area\, few know the captivating history that has made St. Pete Beach the place it is today. He’s always loved baseball and as a way of motivating his players\, he agrees to go to a professional try-out if they win the championship. He once had aspirations to be a professional baseball player but an injury brought that to an end. Sure enough\, the 39 year-old father of three finds himself at a camp for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and he somehow seems to have regained his pitching arm\, easily throwing a 98 mph fastball. Signed to a contract\, he toils in the minor leagues while his supportive wife stays home raising their children. He soon finds himself called up to the big club and pitching for Tampa which is in Texas playing the Rangers. Based on a true story.

DESCRIPTION:Atlantic hurricane season started June 1st and runs through November 30th. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicts a 65% chance of an above-average storm season this year and residents are encouraged to plan ahead. Fire Chief David Mixson and Deputy Fire Chief Emery Culverhouse will be holding virtual hurricane preparedness presentations to share information about evacuation plans\, supply lists\, alert systems\, and what to do after a storm event. Members of the public can log in to watch the presentations and will be given opportunities to ask questions. The presentations will also be broadcast live on the City’s government channel\, Spectrum channel 643. From Thrill Hill and Roser Park to Coffee Pot and Mirror Lake\, the Museum of History and Star Trolley take you on a historic trip through St. Pete’s past.\n\n\nPlease note that reservations are required and seating is limited on the trolley.\n\nPlease arrive 15 minutes before departure.
