DESCRIPTION:There has been a big band at the St. Petersburg Coliseum in downtown St. Petersburg as long as I can remember. Renee’s acrobatic dance act was part of the show there in 1970\, on our first New Years together as college sweethearts. We celebrated my birthday that night. I turned 19 that night\, but I told Renee that I was 24. The following April\, I fessed up and proposed. \nThe spectacular St. Petersburg Coliseum provides historic swing-era ambiance and an unparalleled 15\,000 square foot oak dance floor and is located at 535 Fourth Ave. N\, St. Petersburg. It’s the ultimate way to usher in 2023 in style! \nEver since\, this event has been a New Year’s tradition and fantasy for us. We will be there again this New Year’s Eve\, in the first alcove west of the stage. Come by and wish us Happy New Year and me a happy birthday. \nSWINGIN’ THE NEW YEAR: GRAND NEW YEAR’S EVE CELEBRATION   \nOn Saturday\, 12/31\, the party kicks off at 7:30pm. Live entertainment provided by the eight-piece swinging BLUES WALK BAND with The Bluesette Singers Shelby Sol and Emily Gail. There are swing dance lessons 8-9pm and live music/dancing from 9pm-1am with a balloon drop at midnight.  Enjoy party favors\, noisemakers\, chocolates\, and prize giveaways and be sure to get your photo taken in your dress-to-impress outfit\, be it modern or vintage glam. This event is smoke-free and open to all ages with free parking. \nFood & Drink: You can bring your own food or purchase snacks from the Coliseum’s snack bar such as popcorn\, ice cream and coffee. There will be a full cash bar\, with beer\, wine\, mixed drinks\, soft drinks\, bottled water\, and champagne.  No outside beverages are allowed into the Coliseum\, and no coolers are allowed. \nTickets: Reserved seats $40; VIP Section reserved seats $45. DESCRIPTION: New Year’s Eve Revelers looking for places to go for New Year’s Eve need to look no further than TradeWinds’ “Toast by the Coast” New Year’s Eve Event which takes place from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the TradeWinds Island Grand Ballroom. Partiers 21 and over are invited to don their best duds for an evening of festivities\, food\, and fun. DJ Lorenzo will keep everyone on the dance floor until the wee hours. Guests can strike a pose in the photo booth\, will enjoy an open bar and will receive a glass of bubbly and noisemakers for the champagne toast at midnight. An extensive gourmet hors d’oeuvres buffet is the centerpiece of this year’s New Year’s Eve celebration\, including chef-carved beef steamship round with roasted garlic au jus\, pear and blue cheese in phyllo\, maytag stuffed mini beef wellington\, Tandoori chicken sate and a pasta station featuring cavatappi in a sweet basil pomodoro sauce and cheese tortellini in saffron cream with goat cheese. A dessert and coffee display of chocolate fondue with fruit skewers and a Viennese pastry table will give the buffet a sweet ending. Tickets are limited and are $200 per person\, inclusive of tax and gratuity. Advance purchase required. \nGuests wanting to take the elevator home and make it a vacation can reserve a night at Island Grand or RumFish Beach Resort for as low as $405 per night*\, with a two-night minimum stay required. \nChildren ages 5-14 can also ring in the New Year with a party hosted just for them complete with games\, crafts\, dinner and more!
