DESCRIPTION:Wake up early and bring the kids to the Gulfport Marina’s Fishing Derby at the Michael J. Yakes Recreation Complex’s (5730 Shore Blvd. S.) from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.. Registration is on the seawall and is always free. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. today. Please bring your own fishing pole as the Marina’s staff will provide bait and prizes. \nThe Free Family Sand Sculpture Contest sponsored by the Gulfport Recreation Division will take place from 10:00 a.m. to \n12:00 p.m. on Gulfport’s very own Municipal Beach. The theme is “Patriotic”\, so bring your own tools and supplies\, registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Winners will be announced at 12:15 p.m. \nWelcome local businesses\, organizations\, family and friends in the City of Gulfport Independence Day Parade at 6 p.m. Bring your red\, white and blue and have some fun celebrating the 4th of July! The best viewing location is directly in front of the Casino at 6 p.m. \nA welcome by the Gulfport Mayor and City Councilmember’s. Northwest of the Casino steps. Immediately following the parade. \nLive music from the New Horizons Band of Gulfport as they perform patriotic music on the Casino Deck area at 7 p.m. \nAt 9 p.m.\, a phenomenal fireworks display will launch from the Williams Pier. DESCRIPTION:Gather your friends and family\, and kick off your 4th of July celebrations with St Pete Run the 4th! This 5K FUN RUN showcases the amazing St Pete Pier\, which opened in 2020\, as well as St Pete’s scenic waterfront. The course is closed to traffic\, but this event is NOT timed\, so you can run or walk and enjoy the scenery. \nEach runner will receive a patriotic run bib\, and food from Bolay Fresh Bold Kitchen and Astro ice cream included in the entry fee. The custom designed St Pete Run the 4th shirt/tank is available for additional purchase when registering\, and net proceeds from shirt sales will go towards a portable generator for the St Pete Youth Farm.
