DESCRIPTION:St. Pete Beach Classic Launches New Events for January 15-16\, 2022:  \nThe St. Pete Beach Classic\, the first premier community event of each year\, hits St. Pete Beach January 15-16\, with a host of exciting events\, including several new ones for 2022. The St. Pete Beach Classic welcomes novice and competitive runners and walkers with races for every endurance level including: 5K\, 10K\, Beach Fun Run\, Half Marathon\, Duo Competition\, Individual Marathon Challenge and Kids’ Dashes. The half marathon is the second race in the Burg to Beach to Bayshore series. The scenic racecourses run through the streets of beautiful St. Pete Beach\, the Sunset Capital of Florida and Trip Advisor’s #1 US Beach! The courses are certified\, flat\, and fast\, coursing by waterways and through neighborhoods. \n\nAll races begin and end at the Sirata Beach Resort & Conference Center\, \n5300 Gulf Blvd.\, St. Pete Beach.The weekend also features:\n1)  Health & Fitness Expo on Friday at the St. Pete Beach Rec Center; \n2)  Craft show featuring local artisans; \n3)  Beach volleyball experience complete with instruction\, demonstrations\, open play courts\, and games played by members of the Sunshine State Outdoor Volleyball Association; \n4)  Saturday events culminating in a free beach bonfire that night with live music from The Big Brother Band;\n5)  Juried fine art exhibition hosted by Bella Unica Art Gallery\, featuring local artists showcasing works inspired by St. Pete Beach’s natural beauty; \n6)  A beach cleanup Monday (Martin Luther King Day) from 9-11am with free parking and supplies. DESCRIPTION:The 25th Annual Treasure Island Sport Kite Competition and Festival returns to Treasure Island Jan. 15-16.  Taking place on Treasure Island Beach\, Florida behind the host hotel\, the Thunderbird Beach Resort. \nSpectators\, come be amazed by the talented kite flyers performing to music at this two-day event. This event includes kite flying of all types\, ground displays\, bubbles and tons of fun for all ages. Quad Line and Dual Line lessons will \nbe available on the beach allowing passersby a chance to learn how to fly stunt kites for FREE. After the sun goes down there is potential for a night fly in the same fabulous location! (weather/wind permitting of course). \nWindworks is sponsoring and calling on all flyers to perform on Treasure Island Beach during the Martin Luther King Holiday weekend event. Call Windworks to sign up in advance and participate in the dual-line and multi-line sport kite flying competition. Last-minute signups will be taken on the field on the days of the event Those participating should be ready to supply the music for their routine. Kite Ballet routines and one-on-one Hot Tricks Competitions will take place throughout each day for everyone’s entertainment. \nWindworks\, from John’s Pass in Madeira Beach\, will be on the beach for all your kiting needs including kid’s kites\, stunt kites and accessories. Windworks will also hold a silent auction and hourly raffles in the kite tent all weekend. Stop by and purchase a ticket for your chance to win. \nRemember\, Monday is a holiday\, so we urge you to plan on staying an extra day for recreational flying. January weather in Florida is usually ideal for kites\, with mild temperatures and steady winds.
