City of St. Petersburg

American_Style_mag_cover#1 Arts Destination for Mid-Sized City

-Second Year Honor-

The city of St. Petersburg has claimed the top spot for a second straight year on

AmericanStyle Magazine's list of "Top 25 Arts Destinations" for mid-sized cities.

The significance of this ranking continues to grow as arts offerings in St. Petersburg have recently expanded - with the Dale Chihuly Collection on Beach Drive surpassing 100,000 visitors less than one year after its grand opening; the Morean Arts Center Hot Shop opening in July 2010; and the stunning new home of the Salvador Dali Museum, which opened to much international fanfare in January 2011, exceeding 160,000 visitors in less then three months.

In the ranking, St. Petersburg topped the list ahead of such mid-sized cities as Savannah, New Orleans, Charleston, Tampa, Boulder, Miami, Pittsburgh, Minneapolis, Honolulu, and others. View the list online.

Visitors and residents to St. Petersburg can count six world-class museums, including the Dali and Museum of Fine Arts; the Progress Energy Center for the Arts/Mahaffey Theater,

home to The Florida Orchestra and the Class Acts artist residency program; a host of intimate theatrical venues; and a downtown gallery district, featuring works by local and regional artists among its treasures. Learn more about St. Petersburg's arts scene at www.StPete.org/Arts
